Cupping popularity is on the rise after the 2016 Olympic coverage about the athletes using it.
However, it is the oldest and most globally practiced medical treatment in the human history!
There is a lot to know about cupping, how it can help you, all the different techniques and uses and benefits. Heather is certified in cupping therapy by the International Cupping Therapy Association. Many people seeking treatment with Heather say they have experienced cupping before but she finds that they have usually only experienced glass cupping or fire cupping (from chiropractor or acupuncturist). Soft tissue cupping is quite different (there's no fire) and has profound affects on the body and it's ability to detox and relax.
Generally speaking cupping uses negative pressure with suction which can:
*release rigid soft tissue (muscle, skin, ligaments, adipose),
*drain excess fluids and toxins,
*loosen adhesions,
*stimulate and drain lymphatic system,
*ease distress on irritable nerves,
*relieve chronic gastrointestinal disorders and improved digestion as a whole,
*purify the blood by removing debris, increasing red and white blood cell activity, and facilitating alkaline blood pH,
*lift connective tissue (skin, muscle, fascia, adipose), and
*increases blood flow to stagnant skin and muscles.
The nature of the negative pressure is soothing and comforting to the client. The pulling action engages the parasympathetic nervous system promoting deep relaxation within the entire body. Cupping generally creates space and because of this can actually ease stress on nerves that are compressed. When cupping is used in a treatment series the results are cumulative!
It is widely known that this technique can leave dark marks on the skin, but these are NOT bruises. The suction power of the cups forces loose toxins below the skin to migrate upward. This allows the body to flush these areas with new and nutrient rich blood and prepare the toxins for removal from the body.
